"I was so tired of the smelly people, dirty equipment and high gym membership fees I almost gave up on staying in shape" she says.
Then one day she happened across what looked like a bowling ball with a handle and a funny name, the kettlebell.
"My friend Sasha told me that kettlebell workouts were all the rage for sculpting a tight, lean and muscular body so I thought I'd give it a try," Gibson says raising her shirt to show of her enviable set of six pack abs.
Maurice is not alone.
Once a secret weapon of the elite Soviet Red Army training programs, kettlebells are taking America by storm and for good reason.
A kettlebell is nothing more than a heavy weight with a handle often referred to as resembling a bowling ball or a cannon ball with a handle. You work out with a kettlebell by swinging it, pressing it and pulling it in all different directions. The thing that makes a kettlebell workout so intense is that you incorporate most of your major muscle groups to do the exercises instead of just one or two groups when doing traditional weight training exercises.
You can get an effective whole body fat burning, muscle building workout in about 20 minutes with a kettlebell.
"I wanted to puke the first time I did it" laughs Maurice "but let me tell you these things beat all those worthless gizmos they sell on TV for getting you into shape."
